Back Nine Hardy Oak plans would bring four indoor golf simulators to Shops at Hardy Oak in San Antonio’s Stone Oak area. The 2,704-square-foot project at 19903 Stone Oak Parkway, Suite 204, would expand the brand’s local footprint with its 24/7 golf concept.

The address adds a neighborhood twist: the suite has been home to La Rumba Dance Studio. Plans now call for golf bays in a space associated with dance instruction, giving the existing shopping center another recreation use.

What is Back Nine Golf?

Back Nine built its concept around a familiar problem for golfers: finding time to play when daylight, weather and course schedules cooperate. Indoor simulators let customers practice or play a round without arranging their day around an outdoor tee time.

The brand traces its roots to St. George, Utah. Its British Franchise Association profile dates its founding to late 2021 and its first franchise sale to 2023. That relatively young concept has since spread through a growing franchise network.

Back Nine markets a lean operating model, using technology to support extended access and reservations. That approach helps explain how a compact commercial suite can become an around-the-clock golf destination. Hardy Oak’s specific staffing and access policies have not been announced.

Real swings, virtual courses

Inside, golfers bring clubs, reserve a bay and hit real golf balls toward a screen. Full Swing technology translates those shots into a virtual course, letting players follow the ball without walking a fairway.

The same equipment also serves as a practice tool. Feedback such as ball speed and launch angle helps golfers understand individual shots. A player can work on consistency, try different clubs or simply enjoy a simulated round with friends.

Back Nine’s official concept information lists virtual courses including Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines and St. Andrews. That puts recognizable golf destinations inside a neighborhood storefront, with four simulator bays planned for Hardy Oak.

Memberships form part of the business, but Back Nine also offers public tee-time booking at most locations. Its 24/7 model can accommodate early mornings or late evenings. Local booking rules, membership options and overnight access can vary, so Hardy Oak customers will need location-specific details.

Back Nine Hardy Oak plans a dance-to-golf conversion

La Rumba Dance Studio publicly lists the same Stone Oak Parkway address and Suite 204. The new project would adapt that existing commercial space rather than add a separate building.

The address match establishes the suite’s dance-studio connection. It does not establish that La Rumba has permanently closed or explain the studio’s next steps.

Shops at Hardy Oak sits near Stone Oak Parkway and Hardy Oak Boulevard. Property marketing describes an approximately 40,863-square-foot center serving surrounding neighborhoods, schools and medical uses, alongside restaurants and everyday services.

Shops at Hardy Oak leasing plan in San Antonio showing a golf simulator space
A Shops at Hardy Oak leasing plan identifies a golf simulator space within the Stone Oak shopping center. The plan’s suite numbering differs from the newer Back Nine construction filing, which identifies Suite 204.

The leasing plan labels a space in the same tenant row as “Golf Simulator,” but assigns it Suite 205. The newer construction filing identifies Suite 204. TCM is using the filing’s address and cannot confirm that the plan’s differently numbered space represents Back Nine.

The surrounding area already supports simulator golf. Fore! Swing Lounge operates on Stone Oak Parkway, giving residents another indoor option. Back Nine would add its reservation-based, around-the-clock model to that existing golf landscape.

A growing Texas network

Back Nine’s current franchise material says it has more than 253 locations operating and 330 more coming soon. Those are company marketing figures; the future locations are a development pipeline, not open facilities.

Its official directory includes Texas markets such as Arlington, Boerne and Cedar Park. The company also lists San Antonio West, currently marked “Coming Soon.” Hardy Oak therefore represents another planned San Antonio-area location, rather than a claimed market debut.

TCM recently covered Back Nine Burleson, a roughly 2,400-square-foot project at Wilshire Plaza. That separate project shows the concept advancing in another Texas market; no shared franchise operator has been established.

What’s next for Back Nine Hardy Oak

The state registration, TABS2027002158, lists a $176,843 interior alteration with four simulators and supporting services. It identifies SOHO Retail LTD as owner, Clay Gwaltney as tenant contact and Krystle Weidner Designs as design firm.

The filed construction schedule runs from November 1, 2026, through March 1, 2027. These are projected construction dates, not a confirmed opening announcement.

For Stone Oak residents, the project offers a clear change to an existing neighborhood address: space associated with dance instruction would become a place to practice drives and play virtual rounds, even after sunset.
