Teriyaki Madness plans a new restaurant at 413 University Ave., Suite 150, in Lubbock. A state construction filing lists a $375,000 renovation of 1,973 square feet at The Village at Overton Park. Work is scheduled to begin October 30, 2026, and finish February 28, 2027. An opening date has not been announced.
The tenant-funded project will remodel an existing space for the restaurant. The filing names Dan Fleck as the tenant contact and Oculus, Inc. as the design firm. For diners, the addition brings another quick-service meal option to the University Avenue corridor near Texas Tech.
Teriyaki Madness has a college connection
The concept’s backstory fits a restaurant planned near a college campus. Co-founders Rod and Alan Arreola and their cousin Eric Garma discovered Seattle’s neighborhood teriyaki shops while attending college. They learned the business by working at a favorite local shop.
According to Restaurant Dive’s interview with the company, the trio opened their first restaurant in Las Vegas in 2003. Their inspiration came from those Seattle meals, bringing the neighborhood teriyaki-shop idea to a new market.
That origin gives the Lubbock project a fitting setting: a concept shaped by its founders’ college experience is preparing a location near another university.
What is on the Teriyaki Madness menu?
The official menu centers on made-to-order bowls. Choices include chicken teriyaki, spicy chicken teriyaki, orange chicken, steak teriyaki, salmon, chicken katsu and spicy tofu.
Rice options range from white and brown rice to fried rice, while noodles offer another way to build the meal. Stir-fried vegetables round out the selection. Diners can keep things familiar with chicken teriyaki or choose a spicier option.
Appetizers include chicken eggrolls, chicken potstickers, edamame and crab rangoon. The mix gives customers a choice between a bowl on its own and a meal with a few extras to share. Local pricing and opening promotions have not yet been announced.
A University Avenue location near Texas Tech
The Village at Overton Park retail property sits at University Avenue and Marsha Sharp Freeway. Collett’s earlier leasing plan shows the center’s layout along University Avenue, with storefronts and parking serving the retail strip.
Snooze also lists a restaurant at 413 University Ave., Suite 200, on its official ordering page. The planned shop would add a different dining option at the same address, with teriyaki bowls joining the corridor’s restaurant mix.
The filing identifies Suite 150 for Teriyaki Madness. Its construction schedule runs through late February 2027, setting out the planned renovation window as the restaurant prepares its Lubbock space.
