A Target run could soon become a local errand for more Seguin shoppers. Target in Seguin is planned for the northwest corner of Interstate 10 and Highway 46, with a 123,405-square-foot store bringing the familiar bullseye to one of the city’s biggest development sites.
The appeal is easy to picture: school supplies, a birthday gift, something for the house—and perhaps a few things that were never on the list. A new location would give residents another place to handle everyday shopping close to home.
It also puts a recognizable retail name alongside the much larger vision for Seguin Exchange, where NewQuest’s plans stretch from storefronts and restaurants to entertainment and recreation.
Target in Seguin adds a familiar shopping draw
For shoppers who enjoy browsing as much as checking off a list, Target brings a familiar mix of practical purchases and seasonal discoveries. Home goods, clothing, beauty products and household essentials make the brand a stop for several kinds of errands in one trip.
At more than 123,000 square feet, the proposed Seguin store would be a substantial new shopping option at the highway intersection. Its location also places it within reach of both local neighborhoods and travelers along I-10.
A bigger shopping district around Target in Seguin
NewQuest’s Seguin Exchange development gives the corner a broader role. In a July 2026 announcement, the development partners described a 544-acre mixed-use project with a shopping center exceeding 750,000 square feet.
The retail plan dated July 26, 2026, lays out a shopping district with large stores, smaller shop spaces and restaurant sites along the interstate. It labels proposed uses including a movie theater, EōS Fitness, grocery space and a wholesale membership club. Lowe’s also appears by name on the plan.
The extended plan reaches farther, showing a proposed baseball complex, indoor practice facility, hotel and multifamily areas. A 34.4-acre area carries a proposed Crystal Lagoon, hotel and retail designation, while another 19.7 acres is marked for entertainment. These are proposed uses in NewQuest’s vision, rather than announced openings.
Together, those plans suggest a place where a shopping trip could eventually become an afternoon out: browse a few stores, meet for dinner or stay for an activity.
Growth beyond the storefronts
Employment space is another part of the development. Lovett Industrial and NewQuest have announced a 164-acre industrial campus within Seguin Exchange, planned for more than 2 million square feet at full buildout. Their announcement reported infrastructure work underway, including major roads and a regional detention facility.
For shoppers looking forward to Target in Seguin, that larger vision adds another reason to watch this corner. The combination of workplaces, shopping and proposed leisure uses could make the area a destination well beyond everyday errands.
What is next for Target in Seguin?
The store’s state registration lists an estimated $20.7 million construction cost, with work scheduled from February 8, 2027, through January 20, 2028. RSP Architects is listed as the design firm. Those dates describe the construction schedule; a store opening date has not been announced.
For Seguin shoppers, the headline is straightforward: plans for a local Target bring the red cart, the shopping list and the occasional unplanned find a step closer to home.
