Planet Fitness Planning Second Amarillo Location
Planet Fitness Amarillo is expanding across town.
The fitness chain is preparing to open a second Amarillo location at 3510 E Interstate 40. The new gym will take over an existing tenant space and bring Planet Fitness to the city’s east side.
Currently, Amarillo’s only Planet Fitness operates at 3801 Olsen Boulevard. Planet Fitness’ own location directory lists one Amarillo club at that address.
Now, the company appears ready to double its presence in the city.
Planet Fitness Amarillo Expansion Heads East
The new gym will cover approximately 14,418 square feet. According to the project filing, crews will complete an interior tenant fit-up of the existing space.
The project carries an estimated construction cost of $800,000.
Construction is scheduled to begin September 1, 2026. Then, crews could wrap up the renovation by December 1, 2026.
That gives the project a relatively quick three-month construction schedule.
Local reporting has also identified the development as Amarillo’s second Planet Fitness location.
A New Fitness Option for East Amarillo
Location may be the bigger story here.
The existing Planet Fitness sits on Olsen Boulevard in southwest Amarillo. Meanwhile, the new location will bring the brand several miles east to the Interstate 40 corridor.
As a result, residents on the east side of Amarillo will have a much closer Planet Fitness option.
The project has also moved beyond its initial filing stage. Records provided for the development currently list the project as Review Complete.
However, the construction dates remain estimates and could change as the project moves forward.
