North Texas Performing Arts is preparing for a new chapter on West 15th Street in Plano. A newly registered project lists a $962,000 renovation of 15,000 square feet into a performing-arts studio, with work scheduled from October 15, 2026, through March 15, 2027.
The filing arrives as NTPA advances its announced headquarters relocation from Willow Bend to the former Holiday Warehouse at 2819 W. 15th Street. Coverage of the relocation announcement identifies that building as the future NTPA Center of the Arts.
North Texas Performing Arts returns to an early neighborhood
Long before the organization planned a four-stage center, its performers learned dance numbers in a parking lot. According to NTPA’s own history, Plano Children’s Theatre began in 1991 under founder Sara Egelston Akers. By 1994, it rented rehearsal space at 15th and Custer.
The space was so tight that parents waited outside and dance rehearsals spilled into the parking lot. The new West 15th Street destination brings the organization back to the area of those early years, now with plans for a much more extensive performing-arts home.
What North Texas Performing Arts plans for its new home
NTPA’s official relocation page describes four stages, four rehearsal studios, two dance studios, private lesson studios and a set-building shop. Together, those spaces would support the work that happens before an audience ever takes a seat: rehearsals, lessons, choreography and scenery construction.
The organization says its departure from Willow Bend is necessary to make way for planned demolition and redevelopment associated with the Dallas Stars’ arrival. Its relocation campaign invites families, patrons and volunteers to help establish the new home.
A stage for more of the community
North Texas Performing Arts serves young performers through classes, camps and productions. Its programs also include Starcatchers for performers with disabilities, Deaf Theatre, and adult community and repertory theatre.
That breadth gives the relocation meaning beyond a new address. Rehearsal rooms provide places to build confidence and learn teamwork. Performance spaces give those lessons an audience. Preserving both is central to the organization’s stated mission of character development through the arts.

Project TABS2027001004 lists MDT Plano Ltd as the owner and describes the work as renovation of an existing building into a performing-arts studio. The address field includes both 2819-A West 15th Street and 2707 West 15th Street. The announced main center uses 2819 W. 15th Street; the role of the second address remains unconfirmed.
The filing’s 15,000-square-foot scope and $962,000 estimate should therefore be treated as the registered renovation, rather than the size or total budget of the entire headquarters relocation.
Schedules also need to be read in context. The registration lists March 15, 2027, as estimated construction completion, while NTPA’s published performance calendar lists February performances at the new center. Those dates may reflect different portions of the transition; they do not establish one confirmed opening date for all spaces.
What is clear is the direction of the next act: a new performing-arts home in central Plano, close to where the organization learned to make a stage out of whatever space it had.
