Jarrell’s rapid growth is bringing another major retailer to town.
Additionally, Walmart plans a 174,579-square-foot store in Jarrell and a separate fueling station as part of the project.
The project team plans the new store at 860 FB Schwertner Road, and lists the accompanying fuel station nearby along County Road 313.
Together, the two projects represent more than $14.5 million in estimated construction costs.
And for a city that has spent years growing alongside Interstate 35, this is a significant addition.
Walmart plans a 174,000-square-foot store.
The Walmart itself won’t be small.
Plans call for 174,579 square feet of new retail space, putting the Jarrell project firmly into full-size Walmart territory.
The developer estimates the construction cost at $12.2 million and is developing the store from the ground up.
Walmart Real Estate Business Trust lists itself as the owner, while Core States Group handles the design work for project.
Nearby, Walmart has another major piece of the development planned.
A New Walmart Fuel Station Is Coming Too
The accompanying Walmart fueling station will add 7,631 square feet of covered fueling space along County Road 313.
Plans call for new fuel canopies and supporting facilities at an estimated construction cost of $2.352 million.
That brings the combined estimated construction value of the Walmart store and fuel station to approximately $14.55 million.
Both projects have already reached Review Complete status with the state.
Jarrell Keeps Growing
The Walmart project arrives as Jarrell continues transforming from a small Interstate 35 community into one of northern Williamson County’s growing residential centers.
That growth has been years in the making.
Jarrell Economic Development Corporation previously reported thousands of planned residential lots within the city’s planning area, driven heavily by communities such as Sonterra. The city’s location along I-35 also places it between two of Central Texas’ largest employment centers in Austin and the Temple-Belton area.
Infrastructure is changing alongside that growth.
Williamson County’s transportation planning includes improvements to several roads around Jarrell, including plans to reconstruct a portion of CR 313 from two lanes to four lanes with a median.
Now Walmart is preparing a major investment of its own.
Construction Could Begin This Fall
Both Walmart projects currently share the same construction schedule.
We list the work to begin on September 7, 2026, with completion targeted for August 6, 2027.
Construction schedules can change, and Walmart has not yet announced an official opening date for the new store.
Still, the filings provide the clearest picture yet of what’s headed to the property.
A new 174,579-square-foot Walmart.
A new fueling station.
More than $14.5 million in estimated construction.
Jarrell isn’t just getting somewhere new to fill up the tank.
It’s getting the whole Walmart with it.
