A new Murphy USA in Odessa would give East 42nd Street drivers another place to fill the tank and pick up something for the road. The company plans a $4 million convenience store and fueling station at 2113 E. 42nd St., an address already associated with automotive services.
Plans call for a 2,824-square-foot store and six fuel islands beneath a canopy. Together, the building and fueling area would bring a new Murphy USA location to this established part of Odessa.
Murphy USA in Odessa: A familiar address
Local drivers may recognize the address from Phillips Texaco. U-Haul lists Phillips Texaco as a neighborhood dealer at 2113 E. 42nd Street, with moving trucks, trailers and moving supplies among its services.
That gives the proposed store a local connection beyond a new name on a sign. Murphy USA is planning its next Odessa investment at a property already serving motorists. A transition schedule for the existing business has not been announced.
Fuel, snacks and everyday stops
Since 1996, Murphy USA has built its business around fuel and convenience merchandise. Its stores pair the pump stop with snacks, drinks and other small purchases that fit into a commute or an afternoon of errands.
The planned Murphy USA in Odessa includes a dedicated convenience-store building alongside the covered fuel islands. Drivers could stop for a drink or snack while filling up on East 42nd Street.
The company also offers Murphy Drive Rewards, allowing customers to earn points on purchases and redeem them for fuel discounts or selected snacks and drinks. For regular customers, the program adds a rewards option to everyday stops.
Murphy USA in Odessa targets 2027 construction
The state accessibility registration lists construction beginning April 3, 2027, with completion scheduled for September 17, 2027. Those dates describe the planned construction window; Murphy USA has not announced an opening date for this address.
The privately funded project carries an estimated construction cost of $4 million. RAM Engineering, LLC, of Alexandria, Louisiana, is the listed design firm. The filing identifies the location as Murphy USA 8034.
For residents who travel East 42nd Street, the new store would add another option for fuel and the quick purchases that often accompany a fill-up.
