Sometimes you just need to break something.
Soon, Highland Village residents will have a place specifically designed for it.
iSmash is preparing to open a new entertainment venue at The Marketplace at Highland Village, located at 3090 Justin Road.
The 4,648-square-foot attraction won’t be another traditional arcade or indoor playground. Instead, guests will be able to suit up, grab a smashing tool and destroy everything from glassware to old electronics inside specially designed rage rooms.
And that’s only part of what’s coming.
Three Ways to Make a Mess
The Highland Village iSmash is planned with three primary attractions: smash rooms, splatter paint and an interactive experience called Floor Frenzy.
Inside the smash rooms, guests wear protective equipment before being turned loose on breakable items. Depending on the package and location, iSmash experiences can include dishes, glassware, electronics and even car windshields.
Then there’s splatter paint.
Instead of destroying things, guests enter a blacklight room where fluorescent paint, canvases and a willingness to get messy become the entertainment.
Floor Frenzy adds another option. The interactive floor attraction turns illuminated tiles into a fast-paced physical game built around movement and competition. iSmash currently lists all three experiences for its upcoming Highland Village location.
One thing Highland Village won’t have is axe throwing. Although iSmash offers it at several other locations, plans presented locally specifically excluded it from this venue.
Why iSmash Chose Highland Village
There’s a local story behind the location, too.
The Highland Village Planning and Zoning Commission considered the concept this summer before recommending approval. City Council later approved the conditional-use permit needed for the indoor amusement business.
During that process, the local franchise owners described Highland Village as a deliberate choice.
Owners Roopa Seshadri and Sangeetha Srinivasan are both parents, and they wanted to create an entertainment option where adults could participate rather than simply watching their kids have all the fun. They pointed to Highland Village’s family-oriented community, accessibility and continued growth as reasons for choosing the city.
That makes iSmash a particularly interesting addition to The Marketplace at Highland Village.
It’s designed for families, but definitely not around the usual definition of family entertainment.
iSmash Continues Expanding
iSmash has operated since 2018 and has grown its unusual entertainment concept across the country.
The company says more than 500,000 guests have visited its locations and more than 10 million items have met an unfortunate end inside its facilities.
Texas already has iSmash locations in markets including Addison, Cypress and Katy, with additional locations on the way. The company now officially lists Highland Village as “Opening Soon.”
Construction Moving Forward
The Highland Village location is taking over existing retail space at The Marketplace rather than constructing a new building.
Plans call for approximately $250,000 in interior improvements across 4,648 square feet. Construction is scheduled from August through early November 2026, and the project has reached Review Complete status with the state.
iSmash hasn’t posted an official opening date yet. Its Highland Village website currently says hours will be announced before opening.
But once those doors open, Highland Village will have one business where accidentally breaking something isn’t going to get you kicked out.
It’s pretty much the entire point.
