The Glia’s Coffee El Paso expansion is headed to The Wyoming at 1230 Wyoming Avenue, bringing another cafe to a revitalized property near Downtown.
This is a homegrown business finding more room in its hometown. Glia’s already has a local presence, including its cafe at 404 Arizona Avenue, and the new project pairs specialty coffee with the continued reuse of an existing two-story building.

Glia’s Coffee El Paso Brings Its Local Flavor to The Wyoming
Glia’s has built its appeal around drinks that give customers a reason to linger over the order. Creative lattes, matcha and coffee flights have been part of its offerings, making room for both the familiar morning favorite and the let’s-try-something-new crowd.
Breakfast gives the coffee run a little more staying power. Offerings have included chilaquiles and bagel sandwiches, turning a quick caffeine stop into an excuse to sit down and eat. Those examples reflect the established business; the new cafe’s final menu has not been announced.
Current listings continue to identify the Arizona Avenue operation. The Wyoming project expands the brand’s local presence, without establishing a closure or relocation of the existing cafe.
An Older Building Gets Another Reason to Open Its Doors
The Wyoming’s story started before the new coffee-shop plans. Public permit history shows shell and tenant-improvement activity at the property during 2024 and 2025, laying the groundwork for businesses to move into renewed space.
There is a direct design connection, too. Root Architects includes 1230 Wyoming in its commercial portfolio and lists the broader renovation as completed in 2025. The same El Paso firm is identified as the designer for the Glia’s project.
Root describes the property as a mixed-use space with retail and office or coworking uses. Its approach combines the building’s older character with changes that allow it to serve new purposes. A neighborhood cafe fits naturally into that next chapter.
Local Coffee Meets El Paso Design
The rendering shows a broad canopy, ground-floor storefronts and a patterned screen across the upper facade. Those details give the property a distinctive street presence before a single latte reaches the counter.
For the Glia’s Coffee El Paso expansion, the setting is part of the appeal. Reusing an older property gives the cafe a place within the city’s existing streets, while a local operator brings its own following and personality to the building.
That relationship also connects with Root’s broader emphasis on revitalization and adaptive reuse in El Paso. The project brings an established local business and an El Paso design practice together at a property already prepared for a new mix of activity.
TCM has also tracked Taquería Ay Cocula’s expansion into East El Paso. Glia’s offers another example of a local food-and-drink business extending its reach within the city.
What’s Next for Glia’s Coffee El Paso
The planned cafe covers 1,360 square feet inside the existing building. Its registered construction scope carries a $200,000 value, with work currently scheduled from October 2026 through January 2027.
That is a construction schedule, not an announced opening date. The buildout would prepare the tenant space for coffee-shop use within The Wyoming’s broader redevelopment.
For now, the inviting part is the pairing: an El Paso coffee concept with a playful menu, and an older property finding fresh purpose. Glia’s would give customers another reason to turn onto Wyoming Avenue, pull up a chair and make a little more time for coffee.
