Forney’s Village at Gateway continues to fill up, and another familiar restaurant is officially joining the mix.
Chipotle Mexican Grill is preparing a new location at 1970 Gateway Boulevard, Suite 100, in Forney. The restaurant will open inside a new shell building at the growing Village at Gateway development.
According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, the project will create a 3,000-square-foot Chipotle restaurant. Construction carries an estimated cost of $300,000.
Work is currently scheduled to begin November 16, 2026, with completion targeted for March 30, 2027. The project has already reached Review Complete status with TDLR.
Chipotle Brings Its Familiar Menu to Gateway
Founded in Denver, Colorado, in 1993, Chipotle has grown from a single restaurant into one of the biggest names in fast-casual dining.
The concept keeps things simple. Guests build their own burritos, bowls, tacos and salads using a lineup of proteins, rice, beans, salsas and other toppings.
Choices include chicken, steak, barbacoa, carnitas and sofritas. Of course, there’s also plenty of guacamole for anyone willing to hear those famous extra-charge words.
Village at Gateway Keeps Growing
Chipotle will join an increasingly busy lineup at Village at Gateway, one of Forney’s largest new commercial developments.
The development already includes major retailers such as Target, H-E-B, Home Depot and BJ’s Wholesale Club. Meanwhile, additional retail, restaurant and entertainment projects continue to move forward around the property.
A Village at Gateway leasing plan also identifies Chipotle within the development, giving Forney residents another look at where the restaurant will land.
And Chipotle isn’t the only new project we found at Gateway.
Texas Construction Media has also identified construction filings for Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream and Eyemart Express at the development. We’ll have more on those projects separately.

Village at Gateway isn’t slowing down.
With a new 3,000-square-foot Chipotle now moving through the development process, Forney residents can expect another familiar dining option to join the rapidly growing Gateway lineup.
