Culver’s Plans a Delicious New Stop in Spring

A cheeseburger with seared beef, a side of golden cheese curds, and cold custard waiting for dessert. Culver’s plans to bring that Wisconsin-born combination to Spring with a new restaurant at 18603 Kuykendahl Road. For local diners, the appeal starts with a simple question: burger first, or a quick taste of dessert?

The planned drive-thru restaurant gives the area another dining project to follow well before opening day. Meanwhile, its signature menu offers plenty to get excited about, from the lightly buttered bun to the rich finish of a frozen custard treat.

Culver’s Starts With the ButterBurger

The ButterBurger name has a tasty explanation. According to the company’s account, a light touch of butter on the crown of the bun gives the burger its name. That small detail adds another layer of flavor to the beef and toppings.

Because the bun gets the butter, the burger itself remains the center of attention. Picture cheese against the warm patty, crisp vegetables, and a soft bun that holds everything together. It is familiar comfort food with a distinctive finishing touch.

Culver’s also gives diners room to build a fuller meal around that burger. Crinkle-cut fries keep things classic. However, the Wisconsin-inspired side of the menu offers an especially tempting alternative.

Make Room for the Cheese Curds

For example, Wisconsin Cheese Curds use yellow and white cheddar, fried until golden. Their crisp coating gives way to warm cheese, turning a side order into something worth sharing—or keeping close.

The contrast is part of the fun. A burger brings the savory main event, while those bite-sized curds add crunch and a rich dairy finish. Together, they make the Wisconsin connection clear without needing a long explanation.

Beyond burgers, Culver’s lists chicken, seafood, salads, and sandwiches on its wider menu. As a result, a group can explore different choices while still saving room for the same sweet ending.

Save a Little Room for Frozen Custard

Culver’s Fresh Frozen Custard menu includes shakes, malts, sundaes, and Concrete Mixers. The restaurant makes its custard throughout the day with fresh dairy, creating the rich, creamy texture at the heart of those desserts.

Meanwhile, the Flavor of the Day adds another reason to check the dessert selection. A dish of custard keeps the experience simple, while a shake or malt turns it into a sip-along treat.

After the warm burger and salty sides, that cold finish changes the pace. It is easy to imagine a meal becoming a few extra minutes at the table because nobody wants to rush the last spoonful.

The Family Behind Culver’s

Craig and Lea Culver opened the original restaurant with Craig’s parents, George and Ruth, in Sauk City, Wisconsin, in 1984. The family’s story places ButterBurgers and frozen custard at the beginning of the business.

Today, that pairing still defines the experience. Rather than requiring an elaborate order, it offers a familiar rhythm: choose a burger, add a side, and finish with dessert.

What’s Planned for Kuykendahl Road?

The state project filing lists a new 4,453-square-foot Culver’s with a drive-thru at 18603 Kuykendahl Road. The estimated $1.85 million project carries construction dates of September 25, 2026, through September 25, 2027.

However, those dates describe the estimated construction schedule, not a confirmed opening day. Local hours and opening details remain unannounced. For now, Spring has a new place to anticipate a burger, some curds, and a creamy custard finish.
