A massive piece of Kingwood’s former H-E-B finally has a new tenant.
Crunch Fitness is preparing to open at 4303 Kingwood Drive, Suite 200, inside the redeveloped Kings Crossing property. The gym will take over nearly 37,000 square feet next to the new Sprouts Farmers Market.
Plans call for a $1.2 million interior remodel of the existing building. Construction is scheduled to begin October 10, 2026, and wrap up by March 31, 2027.
A New Life for Kingwood’s Former H-E-B
The Crunch project fills another major piece of a property that many Kingwood residents already know.
H-E-B previously operated at 4303 Kingwood Drive before leaving the building behind. More recently, the property began a major transformation designed to divide the former grocery store into spaces for new tenants.
Sprouts Farmers Market took one side of the former H-E-B and opened its new Kingwood store in April 2026.
However, that still left a huge portion of the building waiting for another tenant.
Now, we know who is taking it.
Crunch Fitness plans to occupy approximately 36,870 square feet in Suite 200. That puts the gym directly alongside Sprouts and fills nearly all of the large space that remained available after the redevelopment.
Crunch Brings a Massive Gym to Kingwood
Crunch Fitness got its start in New York City in 1989. Since then, the company has grown far beyond its original location and built its brand around combining serious workouts with a more energetic, approachable gym atmosphere.
Its clubs typically offer a large mix of cardio equipment, strength machines and free weights. Many locations also feature group fitness, personal training and dedicated functional training areas.
Depending on the club, members may also find HIIT classes, tanning, HydroMassage and other recovery amenities.
In fact, the company already operates in the Lake Houston area, including a location in nearby Humble. The new Kingwood gym will expand that presence with a considerably large space of its own.
Sprouts and Crunch Transform Kings Crossing
For Kings Crossing, the addition of Crunch Fitness helps complete a much bigger redevelopment story.
A building once occupied entirely by H-E-B will now serve two very different destinations.
One side brings shoppers to Sprouts for groceries. The other will bring thousands of square feet of fitness equipment, workout areas and gym amenities to Crunch.
For now, an official opening date has not been announced. However, the current construction schedule targets completion by the end of March 2027.
Bottom line — Kingwood’s former H-E-B is getting a completely new life. Sprouts has already moved in, and now Crunch Fitness is preparing to transform nearly 37,000 square feet next door.
