Old Navy Round Rock plans call for a $700,000 interior renovation at Round Rock Premium Outlets, covering 12,264 square feet. The project at 4401 I-35 N. Frontage Road has a filed construction schedule of February 1 through May 12, 2027.
The investment connects two familiar retail stories: an apparel brand that raced to $1 billion in annual sales during the 1990s, and an outlet center that has drawn shoppers to Round Rock since 2006. Inside the proposed project area, the work would reach from the sales floor to employee spaces.
What the Old Navy Round Rock Renovation Includes
For shoppers, the most visible changes would involve merchandise fixtures, lighting and the checkout counter, described in the filing as the cash wrap. Fitting rooms and restrooms also appear in the scope.
Behind the sales floor, plans include the manager’s office, stockroom and employee area. Together, those elements point to a broad interior project touching both the shopping experience and daily store operations.
The Old Navy Round Rock filing classifies the work as a renovation or alteration. It does not establish an expansion, a new store prototype or a temporary closure. The listed square footage describes the renovation area rather than additional retail space.
The Brand Behind the Old Navy Round Rock Plans
Old Navy began in 1994, when its first store opened in Colma, California. According to Gap Inc.’s corporate history, the concept grew from the successful Gap Warehouse prototype. Its name came from an unlikely source: a bar in Paris.
The brand quickly became much more than a new name above a storefront. In 1997, Old Navy reached $1 billion in annual sales. Gap Inc. says it was the first retailer to reach that milestone in less than four years.
That unusually fast rise helps explain why Old Navy became such a recognizable part of American shopping. The company later opened its first Old Navy Outlet and launched online shopping in 2000, then expanded into Canada in 2001.
The physical footprint remains substantial. Gap Inc.’s latest quarterly reporting lists 1,241 company-operated Old Navy stores in North America as of August 1, 2026. Those locations occupied about 19.6 million square feet.
An Outlet Destination Since 2006
The setting for the Old Navy Round Rock project has its own history. Simon’s third-quarter 2006 report dates the opening of Round Rock Premium Outlets to August 3, 2006. It described a 432,000-square-foot center with 125 stores that opened 97% leased.

The city’s development process preceded that opening. Round Rock’s PUD records identify the outlet development as PUD No. 60, approved in May 2005, with amendments in January and May 2006.
Simon marketed the original project as an outdoor shopping village with Hill Country-inspired architecture. Its current property overview advertises 125 name-brand outlet stores. By the scheduled 2027 construction period, the center will be more than two decades old.
Gap-Family Ties Go Back to Opening Day
Simon named Gap Outlet and Banana Republic among the center’s opening tenants. Both belong to the same corporate family as Old Navy, giving the new project a connection to the property’s earliest retail lineup.
That does not establish when Old Navy itself arrived. The opening material reviewed did not name it, and a current standalone outlet-store listing could not be verified. The Old Navy Round Rock registration establishes the planned work at the outlet address; it does not establish the space’s prior tenant.
Which Old Navy Round Rock Location Is Involved?
Old Navy’s official store locator lists La Frontera at 2701D Parker Road. That is a different address from this project, so the outlet filing should not be read as work at the La Frontera store or the brand’s Round Rock debut.
La Frontera has separate retail changes underway, including Supermercado Los Vaqueros’ planned store in an existing retail building. These projects illustrate two ways established shopping properties can receive fresh investment.
Construction Dates and What Comes Next
Registration TABS2027002271 names Shremshock Architecture of New Albany, Ohio as the design firm and identifies tenant funding. The owner entities are CPG Round Rock LP and SPG Round Rock NS LP.
The Old Navy Round Rock schedule runs from February 1 to May 12, 2027. Those are filed estimates, not a confirmed opening or reopening date. Any operating plans will require a separate announcement.
For now, the story is a substantial interior investment inside a long-established shopping destination. More than three decades after Old Navy’s rapid rise, the brand’s next documented Round Rock project puts $700,000 toward another chapter at the outlets.
