Carrollton’s DK Village Gets Bold Media Transformation

DK Village Carrollton Conceptual Rendering

An older Carrollton shopping center is getting a new identity, and a major piece of its transformation will include nearly 7,000 square feet dedicated to radio, digital media and an open studio.

DK Media Group is preparing new space inside DK Village at 1933 E. Frankford Road, near Josey Lane. A newly registered state filing calls for the renovation of Suites 140 and 160 into a radio, media and open studio facility.

The 6,982-square-foot project carries an estimated construction cost of $150,000. Work is scheduled to begin November 1, 2026, with completion targeted for March 31, 2027.

And while the construction filing is new, plans for DK Media to become a major part of DK Village have already been hiding in plain sight.

DK Media Will Anchor the New DK Village

Conceptual renderings for DK Village show a dramatically updated exterior for the Frankford Road shopping center. Right beside the property’s prominent new DK VILLAGE entrance, the plans include dedicated storefront space labeled DK MEDIA.

A separate leasing plan provides an even clearer picture.

It identifies a large section of the center as DK MEDIA GROUP, with DK Net shown in Suite 140 at 6,991 rentable square feet. That’s nearly identical to the 6,982 square feet identified in the new construction filing.

Together, the documents show that DK Media isn’t simply leasing a small office in the center. Its operation will occupy a significant portion of the redeveloped property.

Current marketing materials describe DK Village as a reimagined retail center and identify DK NET as an anchor while additional suites remain available for future businesses. View DK Village property information

The conceptual renderings depict restaurants and other businesses surrounding DK Media, although those names shouldn’t necessarily be treated as confirmed tenants. The renderings are conceptual, and leasing plans can change.

DK Media, however, now has something much stronger behind it: an actual construction filing.

A Korean-American Media Company With Dallas Roots

DK NET has been serving North Texas’ Korean-American community for more than a decade.

The company launched its Dallas Korean radio operation in June 2012, initially broadcasting on KHSE AM 700. It moved to KKDA AM 730 the following year and established its headquarters in Dallas. Explore DK NET’s history

Its programming expanded well beyond music. DK NET developed Korean-language news, educational and entertainment programming while becoming involved in community events across North Texas.

It even brought Korean-language Texas Rangers broadcasts to listeners beginning in 2014.

Then the operation grew beyond radio.

In 2019, DK NET joined with Korea Town News to form the broader DK Media Group, bringing radio and Korean-language news media together under one organization. The company has since expanded further into digital content, video, social media and marketing.

Its K Media division launched in 2025 as another step toward digital production and advertising, while the company has continued developing additional media platforms. Learn more about K Media

That evolution makes the wording in Carrollton‘s new construction filing particularly interesting.

This isn’t described simply as an office.

It’s a “radio MEDIA & OPEN STUDIO.”

What Does an Open Studio Mean?

Exactly what DK Media intends to do with the open-studio component hasn’t been publicly detailed, so there’s no reason to guess.

But the nearly 7,000-square-foot footprint gives the company considerably more room than a traditional radio booth.

The space could support DK Media’s growing combination of broadcasting, video production, digital content and other media operations. What ultimately becomes publicly accessible—or how the “open studio” concept will operate—will depend on details released by DK Media as the project progresses.

Even without those details, the project represents a significant physical investment in the company’s next chapter.

Why Carrollton Makes Sense

Carrollton is also a fitting location for that next chapter.

The city is home to a prominent Korean-American business community, particularly around the Old Denton Road corridor. Korean restaurants, grocery stores, retailers and other businesses have turned this part of Carrollton into one of North Texas’ most recognizable Korean commercial districts.

The City of Carrollton’s economic development materials even identify DK Media Group among South Korean international companies operating in the city. See Carrollton’s leading international employers

DK Village sits nearby along East Frankford Road, giving the media operation a physical presence close to many of the communities and businesses it serves.

The location also represents something larger for the shopping center itself.

Rather than simply refreshing an aging strip center and filling storefronts, DK Village is developing an anchor with a distinct identity tied directly to Carrollton’s Korean-American community.

More Than a Shopping Center Makeover

For now, construction on the DK Media studio is scheduled to run from November 2026 through March 2027. That timeline represents the anticipated construction schedule rather than an announced opening date.

Other portions of DK Village remain available for lease, meaning the tenant lineup shown in today’s conceptual materials could continue changing as the redevelopment moves forward.

But one major piece is becoming much clearer.

After more than a decade of Korean-language broadcasting, community programming and an expanding digital-media operation in North Texas, DK Media Group is preparing a nearly 7,000-square-foot home inside Carrollton’s newly reimagined DK Village.
