Edinburg is getting a new destination for western wear.
Boot Barn is preparing to open a new 15,000-square-foot store at Fairhaven Crossing, located at 2636 S. I-69C near Canton Road.
The retailer will move into a portion of the former Lacks Furniture space, bringing new life to the large storefront along the expressway.
Boot Barn continues its nationwide growth
Boot Barn got its start in Huntington Beach, California, in 1978. Since then, the company has grown from a single store into the largest U.S. lifestyle retail chain focused on western and work-related footwear, apparel and accessories.
Today, Boot Barn operates more than 525 stores across 49 states.
The retailer carries western and work wear for men, women and children. Its stores feature cowboy boots, jeans, hats, work boots, outerwear and accessories.
Shoppers can also find well-known brands including Ariat, Wrangler, Carhartt, Justin and Tony Lama, alongside several exclusive Boot Barn brands.
Changes are coming to the former Lacks space
Boot Barn isn’t the only change taking place at Fairhaven Crossing.
The former Lacks Furniture space is being divided into three separate retail spaces. Boot Barn will occupy approximately 15,000 square feet of the building.
That leaves two additional spaces within the former large-format store available for new uses.
For longtime Edinburg residents who remember Lacks at the shopping center, the arrival of Boot Barn will bring a noticeably different look to this part of Fairhaven Crossing.
Construction on the Boot Barn space is currently scheduled to begin in November 2026, with completion targeted for March 2027.
For now, Boot Barn is the first new tenant we’ve identified as part of the redevelopment of the former Lacks space.
