Big Blue Swim School plans to bring a new place for little swimmers to learn to northwest Katy. The children’s swim school is headed to Katy Lakes Shopping Center at 24909 FM 529, Suite 300, near neighborhoods where family schedules already revolve around school, practice and the next activity.
For parents along this stretch of FM 529, the appeal is straightforward: another option for fitting swim lessons into the week, closer to the places they already call home.
Big Blue Swim School puts small milestones first
Learning to swim comes with plenty of small victories, from getting comfortable in the water to making it across the pool. Big Blue organizes its lessons around age and ability, with programs that progress from babies and toddlers to older, more experienced swimmers.
At its existing Katy school, the company offers lessons for children ages 3 months to 12 years. Beginner sessions start at 30 minutes, while advanced classes work on strokes and endurance.
The brand also builds scheduling into the experience. Its app lets parents manage lessons and track progress, and families can look for overlapping lesson times for siblings at different levels. Warm water and parent viewing areas are among the features Big Blue promotes at its schools.
A new lesson destination near Elyson
The location puts the planned school in a shopping center at the southeast corner of FM 529 and Katy-Hockley Cut-Off Road. Palo Duro Commercial Partners markets the property as Shops at Katy Lakes.
The center sits across from Elyson, according to its leasing brochure, which highlights nearby schools and the surrounding residential community. That setting gives the swim school a neighborhood audience beyond the shoppers stopping in along FM 529.
Big Blue Swim School already has a Katy location at 29907 Jordan Crossing Boulevard. The Katy Lakes project would add a separate address on the north side of the Katy area, bringing the brand to a different pocket of families.
What is planned for Big Blue Swim School at Katy Lakes?
The project calls for a $1.9 million interior build-out of 6,964 square feet. DxU Architects is listed as the design firm. The state registration schedules work from August 3, 2026, through January 21, 2027; an opening date has not been announced.
For this part of Katy, the addition would give families another place to turn a weekly lesson into a familiar routine—and give young swimmers a new pool in which to work toward their next milestone.
