North Fort Worth’s growing North City district is making room for a major furniture destination. New Ashley Homestore Fort Worth plans call for a 65,000-square-foot showroom at 8501 North City Drive, adding another substantial retail building to the development near I-35W.
For shoppers, the project would bring a new place to compare sofas, bedroom furniture and dining sets within a district that also mixes restaurants, entertainment and homes. Ashley already operates elsewhere in Fort Worth; this proposal adds a new North City location to the development picture.
Where Ashley Homestore Fort Worth Fits at North City
The overall site plan places Ashley near the southern end of the district and labels its site “AT CONTRACT.” Living Spaces, Andretti Indoor Karting & Games and City Pickle appear nearby, illustrating the combination of big retail destinations and leisure activities taking shape around it.
The plan also shows restaurants, additional commercial land and multifamily development across North City. Rather than a single shopping center built around one anchor, the drawing lays out a district with several reasons to visit and residential buildings woven into the mix.
Furniture shopping would be part of that broader experience. With Ashley and Living Spaces both represented on the plan, North City could offer shoppers more than one showroom to explore during the same trip.
Another Piece of a Development TCM Is Tracking
Texas Construction Media previously covered Trader Joe’s plans for North City. Ashley adds another chapter to that story, showing how the district’s retail mix extends from grocery shopping to larger purchases for the home.
Those uses serve different needs, but together they help explain North City’s scope. A grocery run, a furniture-shopping trip and an entertainment outing can all bring people into the same development.
The overall plan remains a development document, not a photograph of a finished district. Its labels and available parcels show both the businesses associated with North City and the room left for it to evolve.
A Large Showroom for Ashley Homestore Fort Worth Shoppers
Ashley’s official product lineup spans living-room, bedroom and dining furniture, along with mattresses, home-office pieces and décor. That range makes a physical showroom useful for comparing the scale, feel and finish of items before bringing them home.
The North City proposal calls for a ground-up furniture store rather than a remodel of an existing shop. Its 65,000-square-foot footprint would make it a substantial addition to the district’s shopping options.
Registered plans value the construction scope at $9 million, with work scheduled from December 17, 2026, through August 10, 2027. That schedule describes construction, not an announced store opening.
For North Fort Worth residents, the larger story is the continued buildout of a district already drawing recognizable retail and entertainment names. Ashley would give that mix another destination focused on furnishing the home, as North City continues taking shape near I-35W.
