A new recreation area is taking shape inside one of Alvin’s largest new master-planned communities.
New construction documents provide additional details about the planned Preservation Creek Recreation Center, including pickle ball courts, playground areas and new outdoor gathering spaces.
The approximately 30,000-square-foot landscape improvement project is planned near Preservation Creek Boulevard and Pinnacle Parkway and carries an estimated construction cost of $550,000.
Work is currently scheduled to begin August 31, 2026, with completion targeted for January 3, 2027.
What’s Planned
According to the construction filing, improvements around the recreation center will include pickle ball courts, playground areas, a decomposed-granite plaza, pavers and concrete sidewalks.
The project is privately funded and is currently listed as Review Complete.
EHRA Engineering is identified as the project’s design firm. EHRA is also the engineer for the larger Preservation Creek development and says its involvement with the community dates back to planning, surveying and conceptual engineering work that began in 2021.
Part of the Larger Preservation Creek Development
Preservation Creek is a nearly 3,000-acre master-planned community under development on Alvin’s west side near State Highway 288 and FM 1462.
The community is being developed by W Land Development and is planned for approximately 5,700 homes at full build-out, along with extensive parks, trails, waterways and green space. Preservation Creek’s website lists nearly 1,200 acres of parks and recreation space across the development.
The owner identified in the recreation-center filing, WB West Alvin Land LLC, is also identified in City of Alvin records as the property owner behind the larger Preservation Creek development.
Preservation Creek officially broke ground in May 2025. Its first phase covers hundreds of acres and includes new home-sites, infrastructure, trails, green-space and waterways.
The development is also a flagship project within Alvin’s broader Austin Bayou District, an initiative aimed at expanding residential and commercial development along the city’s western side.
Construction on the new recreation-center improvements is scheduled to continue into early 2027.
