Miu Miu is planning a comeback at Houston’s Galleria. The Italian luxury fashion label, which opened a boutique at the mall in 2011 and later closed it before the pandemic, has filed plans for a new $2 million store build-out at 5015 Westheimer Road, Space A2446. The filing signals a potential return to a shopping destination the brand once called home, although an opening has not been announced.
The proposed boutique would join a mall with a substantial renovation history. In May 2024, owner Simon announced upgrades including 155,000 square feet of new flooring, redesigned entrances, LED lighting and ceiling improvements. Simon also reported that Fendi and Saint Laurent had doubled their Galleria footprints.
Miu Miu’s Houston Galleria comeback takes shape
Miu Miu is part of Prada Group and was founded by Miuccia Prada in 1993. The brand takes an experimental approach to fashion, giving it a distinct identity alongside Prada.
This would not be Miu Miu’s first appearance at the Galleria. CultureMap reported on the brand’s Houston Galleria opening in December 2011, when Miu Miu even introduced a limited-edition handbag for the occasion. The boutique later disappeared from the mall: a subsequent CultureMap report said it closed before the pandemic. The newly registered 2027 project therefore marks a potential return to a familiar Houston address after years away—not the brand’s first arrival in the city. The filing establishes construction plans, but Miu Miu has not confirmed a reopening date.
Prada Group’s 2025 results reported 35% growth in Miu Miu retail sales and highlighted store openings and renovations in Wuhan, London and Tokyo. Growth moderated to 1% for the first nine months of 2026, according to the group’s October 22 update. Both growth figures are at constant currency. The brand also operates a boutique at Dallas’ Highland Park Village.

What the Miu Miu Houston project includes
The state project registration filed November 3, 2026 describes tenant improvements inside an existing lease space at Houston Galleria I. Along with the storefront, the scope includes interior finishes, built-in cabinetry, stock and service areas, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire/life-safety improvements.
The estimated $2 million renovation covers 4,513 square feet, with private funding provided by the tenant. LinkLab is listed as the design firm and HG Galleria, LLC as the property owner.
There is a detail to watch as plans develop: Michael Kors’ official store locator still lists Suite A2446. The Miu Miu filing does not confirm a Michael Kors closure or replacement.
Construction dates point to 2027
The filed schedule anticipates work beginning January 11, 2027, with completion on July 10, 2027.
Those are estimated construction dates, not a confirmed store-opening schedule. If the project moves forward, it would bring Miu Miu back to the Galleria after its earlier boutique closed before the pandemic. The brand has not announced a Houston reopening date or confirmed the final boutique design.
