Dutch Bros Makes a Big Move Into South Forney

A second Dutch Bros Forney location is taking shape south of U.S. Highway 80, where the coffee chain plans to convert the former Salad and Go at 430 S. FM 548. The project would give a relatively new drive-thru building another life—and put Dutch Bros on both sides of the highway.

Forney already has a Dutch Bros at 870 N. FM 548. This new proposal calls for a $550,000 remodel of an existing 872-square-foot restaurant, shifting the brand’s next local move to the south side.

Same Road, Different Side of Forney

The two addresses share FM 548, but the highway makes the distinction clear. The existing shop sits north of U.S. 80; the former Salad and Go property sits south of it, near College Avenue and Forney High School.

Dutch Bros’ official listing for the north-side shop currently shows daily operating hours and ordering options. Its Forney directory lists one operating location, establishing the south-side project as a planned second shop.

For local customers, that geography matters more than the shared road name. The proposal would add a Dutch Bros stop on the south-side stretch of FM 548, while the existing location continues serving customers north of the highway.

From Salad and Go to Dutch Bros

The building’s previous identity is well documented. Salad and Go’s closure notice included 430 S. FM 548 among the Dallas-Fort Worth restaurants selected to close during its September 2025 contraction.

Property marketing from SRS Real Estate Partners lists the building’s construction year as 2023 and its size as approximately 865 square feet. Just a few years after its original development, the compact restaurant is preparing for another operator.

The former Salad and Go at 430 S. FM 548 in Forney is slated for conversion into a Dutch Bros Coffee.

The new filing’s 872-square-foot scope is close to that marketed footprint. More decisively, the scope explicitly calls for remodeling an existing quick-service restaurant for Dutch Bros Coffee. This is a reuse project within the small building already on the site.

A Young Drive-Thru Gets a New Tenant

The broker’s property listing describes two drive-thru lanes plus a pickup lane. That gives the proposed beverage shop an existing layout built around vehicle service.

The supplied property photo reinforces that history: the 430 address remains visible above a compact building with service windows and a mobile-pickup canopy. The final Dutch Bros lane arrangement and exterior design have not been established by the filing.

TCM has also covered Dutch Bros’ planned conversion of a former Stir Soda Shop in Victoria. That project involves a different former tenant, but offers another example of the brand adapting an existing beverage-service property.

The Larger Competition for Former Salad and Go Sites

Forney’s conversion comes amid broader interest in the salad chain’s former real estate. On September 29, bankruptcy counsel Reed Smith announced court approval of approximately $123 million for 63 former Salad and Go leases sold to 7 Brew.

The firm said the process began with a $105 million agreement with Dutch Bros before competitive bidding produced the 7 Brew result. The approved portfolio includes locations in Texas, Arizona, Nevada and Oklahoma.

Dutch Bros had announced on August 31 that it would not raise its original offer, while saying it would continue evaluating opportunities. The Forney construction registration documents a proposed Dutch Bros remodel; it does not establish this property’s transaction history or connect it to the 7 Brew portfolio.

South FM 548 Already Has a Retail Anchor

Across the road, Tom Thumb is already operating at 435 S. FM 548, according to its official store directory. Older marketing for the former Salad and Go described that grocery development as a future project.

That distinction places Dutch Bros beside an operating supermarket rather than a proposed one. The Forney Economic Development Corporation also identifies the FM 548 intersections with FM 1641 and FM 741 as distinct retail-development areas south of U.S. 80.

Dutch Bros Forney Buildout Targets Early 2027

Founded in Grants Pass, Oregon, in 1992, Dutch Bros reported 1,225 locations as of June 30, 2026. Its company information describes a drive-thru beverage business offering specialty coffee, Rebel energy drinks, cold brew, tea, lemonade and other customizable drinks.

The Forney registration, TABS2027002335, lists tenant-funded construction from November 30, 2026, through February 15, 2027. February 15 is the filed construction-completion estimate, not a confirmed opening date.

The next Dutch Bros Forney project would expand the brand’s local reach while reusing a familiar south-side restaurant. A building designed for a quick salad pickup is now lined up for a different kind of drive-thru order.
