QuikTrip Edinburg is moving forward with plans for a new convenience store and fueling station along I-69C in Hidalgo County.
The company plans to build QuikTrip #7976 at 8351 N. I-69C in Edinburg across from Stripes. The project calls for a new 7,318-square-foot convenience store with retail gasoline sales.
Construction carries an estimated cost of $747,000. Work was scheduled to begin July 24, 2026, with completion currently targeted for July 22, 2027, according to state project records. The project has already reached Review Complete status.
QuikTrip Expanding Into Edinburg
The project would bring QuikTrip into a part of Texas where the convenience-store chain has historically had little presence.
In fact, QuikTrip’s current Texas location directory lists stores throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and San Antonio regions, along with locations stretching into West and East Texas. Edinburg does not currently appear among its operating Texas markets.
That makes the upcoming QuikTrip Edinburg location another sign that the company is pushing farther into South Texas.
However, it won’t be the first QuikTrip headed to the Rio Grande Valley.
The RGV’s First QuikTrip Is Taking Shape in Raymondville
QuikTrip is already developing a store farther north in Raymondville, where construction has been underway on what has been reported as the company’s first Rio Grande Valley location.
That project includes an 8,292-square-foot convenience store and fueling station near I-69E. Recent July updates showed construction continuing at the property.
QuikTrip’s own employment website now lists the Raymondville store as “coming soon.”
So while Raymondville is expected to claim the first RGV location, Edinburg appears positioned to continue QuikTrip’s expansion into the Valley and bring the chain into Hidalgo County.
More Than Gas and Convenience Items
QuikTrip has grown well beyond the traditional gas-station model.
The Tulsa-based company operates more than 1,000 stores nationwide, while its Texas footprint has grown to more than 300 locations.
Many stores feature QT Kitchens, the company’s foodservice concept offering made-to-order and grab-and-go options. Depending on the location, offerings can include pizza, breakfast sandwiches, subs, wraps, pretzels, barbecue, fountain drinks and specialty coffee.
The new Edinburg project will be considerably larger than a small neighborhood convenience store, with more than 7,300 square feet of interior space planned alongside fuel sales.
QuikTrip Continues Its South Texas Push
QuikTrip has already established stores in markets such as Laredo and San Antonio, while Raymondville represents its next move into the Rio Grande Valley. The Edinburg project would push the company’s footprint farther into the region.
QuikTrip has not announced an opening date for the Edinburg store. For now, project records target construction completion for July 2027.
Bottom line — QuikTrip is expanding deeper into the Rio Grande Valley. With its first RGV store already taking shape in Raymondville, a new QuikTrip is now planned along I-69C in Edinburg.
