Anna’s rapid growth continues to attract new businesses, and this time another familiar name is heading to the city.
Discount Tire is moving forward with its first Anna location, with a new store planned at 1801 N. Central Expressway along the US 75 corridor.
The project represents a $2.5 million investment and will bring a new 7,320-square-foot Discount Tire to one of Anna’s fastest-growing commercial areas.
A new Discount Tire along US 75
New construction plans filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation call for a ground-up Discount Tire at the property.
The project is scheduled to begin construction on September 1, 2026. The filing lists a completion date of September 1, 2028.
However, that date represents the construction schedule filed with the state and should not be considered an opening date. Discount Tire has not announced when the Anna store will open.
The project has already been working its way through Anna’s development process.
City planning documents place the site on the west side of US 75, roughly 1,000 feet north of West Rosamond Parkway. The property is part of the larger Liberty Hills development.
Discount Tire confirms this will be its first Anna store
There was one particularly useful detail during the city approval process.
When the project appeared before the Anna Planning and Zoning Commission, a representative for Discount Tire confirmed that the new store would be the company’s first location in Anna.
That’s notable because Discount Tire is hardly new to Collin County.
The company already operates stores throughout the surrounding North Texas area, including McKinney and Prosper. Anna, however, has remained a gap in the company’s local footprint.
As Anna continues adding rooftops and commercial development along US 75, that gap is now preparing to close.
Why Anna?
Discount Tire’s interest in Anna also came up during the city approval process.
At an April City Council meeting, city leaders questioned the company about choosing Anna despite existing tire businesses already serving the community.
The discussion turned toward the tremendous growth occurring across North Texas and the Dallas-Fort Worth area as Discount Tire continues expanding its presence.
And Anna has certainly been doing plenty of growing.
The city sits along one of North Texas’ busiest development corridors, with new residential communities bringing thousands of additional homes while commercial projects continue following that population north.
Now Discount Tire is becoming another piece of that growth.
Another automotive business is coming next door
Discount Tire also won’t be the only new automotive business headed to this stretch of US 75.
Brake Masters is planning a location immediately adjacent to the future Discount Tire.
During a June Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, a representative for the Brake Masters project explained that the company specifically liked being next to Discount Tire because the two businesses offer complementary services.
Discount Tire focuses primarily on tires and wheels, while Brake Masters provides services including brakes, oil changes and other automotive maintenance.
That means the two projects are effectively creating a small automotive-service destination within the Liberty Hills development.
For drivers, it could eventually mean handling several vehicle needs during one trip.
Discount Tire has Texas roots
While Discount Tire has grown into one of the country’s largest tire retailers, the company has deep connections to Texas.
Discount Tire was founded in 1960 when Bruce Halle opened the company’s first store in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The business began with just six tires and four retreads available for sale, according to the company.
Halle later moved the company’s headquarters to Arizona, but Discount Tire has built an enormous presence in Texas over the decades.
Today, the company operates stores across the state and throughout the country, selling tires and wheels while also providing services such as tire installation, rotation, balancing and flat-tire repair.
Anna will soon join that growing network.
What’s next for Discount Tire in Anna?
With city approvals behind the project and a new construction filing now registered, the future Discount Tire is moving closer to becoming another addition to Anna’s US 75 commercial corridor.
Construction is currently scheduled to begin in September 2026 on the 7,320-square-foot building.
An opening date has not been announced.
But one thing is now clear: Anna is officially getting its first Discount Tire, and another automotive business is already preparing to join it next door.
