Leander’s emerging downtown district is adding another everyday shopping destination. America’s Best Leander plans call for a new Contacts & Eyeglasses store at 408 E. San Gabriel Parkway inside Northline, bringing a national optical retailer into the development’s new retail space.
Based on currently available company location information, this appears to be the brand’s first Leander store. America’s Best already serves nearby Central Texas markets, including Austin, Cedar Park and Georgetown, but its official Texas location information does not list Leander.
The local significance goes beyond a new place to shop for frames. As Northline takes shape, tenants like America’s Best help turn newly built commercial space into places residents can use for routine errands.

America’s Best Leander Joins Northline’s New Retail Space
Plans call for a 3,227-square-foot interior renovation and finish-out. The address is part of a larger Northline retail-shell project covering approximately 66,879 square feet across Buildings 1–4, with a registered construction value of roughly $8 million.
That larger project creates the commercial space; individual tenants then prepare their interiors for customers. The America’s Best Leander plans offer another concrete example of that transition from retail buildings to operating businesses.
The store’s own registered construction value is $311,240. That figure covers the optical retailer’s interior project and is separate from the broader retail-shell construction value.
More Than a Shopping Center
Northline’s developer describes the roughly 116-acre project as Leander’s new downtown district. Its plan combines restaurants and shops with offices, housing, civic uses and public gathering spaces.
Transit is also part of the setting. Northline sits within Leander’s transit-oriented development area, and its name reflects its position near the northern end of the MetroRail line. The district’s planned mix gives people reasons to live, work and spend time in the same area.
Within that vision, America’s Best Leander would add a practical retail use alongside the destinations designed for dining and leisure. An eyeglass store is another reason to visit the district during an ordinary week, not only for a special outing.
A Familiar Name for Frames and Contacts
America’s Best focuses on eyeglasses and contact lenses, with its company website also offering eye-exam scheduling. For local shoppers, the proposed store would bring that established retail concept into Leander itself.

Construction is currently scheduled from February 1 through March 1, 2027. Those dates describe the planned interior work, not a company-announced opening day.
