Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital is preparing to grow again.
A massive new patient tower is moving forward at the hospital’s campus at 23900 Katy Freeway, adding hundreds of thousands of square feet of new healthcare space to serve the rapidly growing Katy area.
New construction records call for a 282,000-square-foot bed tower attached to the existing hospital.
The tower alone carries an estimated construction cost of $180 million.
However, it’s only part of an even larger investment underway at Memorial Hermann Katy.
An Eight-Story Tower Is Coming to the Katy Campus
Memorial Hermann previously announced a $282.5 million expansion of its Katy hospital, with a new eight-story patient tower serving as the centerpiece.
The tower will add inpatient beds along with advanced imaging services.
And there will be something considerably more noticeable on top.
Plans include a rooftop helipad for Memorial Hermann Life Flight, allowing helicopters to bring patients directly to the expanded hospital campus.
The larger expansion will reach well beyond the new tower.
Memorial Hermann also plans improvements to its pediatric emergency center, surgical services, women’s and children’s services, laboratory and pharmacy. Support areas, including the hospital’s kitchen and cafeteria, are also part of the project.
Memorial Hermann Is Growing Along With Katy
This won’t be the hospital’s first major expansion.
In fact, Memorial Hermann says it will be the third major expansion at the Katy campus in recent years.
A previous $167 million expansion added nearly 100 beds along with new and renovated clinical space, a third professional office building and additional parking. That project also expanded emergency, surgical and women’s services.
Another expansion completed in 2016 added the hospital’s East Tower.
Today, Memorial Hermann Katy operates as a 303-bed hospital serving Katy and west Houston. The campus has provided healthcare to the area for more than 40 years.
But Katy hasn’t stopped growing.
Memorial Hermann specifically pointed to the area’s population growth and increasing demand for healthcare when announcing its latest investment.
So the hospital isn’t simply getting bigger for the sake of getting bigger.
It’s trying to keep up with the community around it.
Even More Work Is Already Underway
The new tower isn’t the only construction happening around the campus.
Another project calls for a 700-space surface parking lot and private helistop covering approximately 285,000 square feet on the north side of the hospital property.
That project alone carries an estimated construction cost of $5.2 million.
Meanwhile, Memorial Hermann continues improving areas inside its existing buildings. A separate 2026 project is adding two operating rooms and making changes to recovery areas in the West Tower.
Piece by piece, the Katy campus continues to change.
Construction Will Stretch Into 2030
The newly filed North Tower project is currently scheduled to begin in January 2027.
Construction records describe the project as a new 282,000-square-foot hospital bed tower, including both the core and shell and interior fit-out.
Completion is currently targeted for January 2030.
Memorial Hermann’s broader $282.5 million expansion announcement also calls for construction to begin around late 2026.
That means Katy residents will be watching this one rise for several years.
And when it’s finished, the result won’t simply be another addition to the hospital.
It will be the latest chapter in a campus that has spent years growing right alongside Katy itself.
