Little Tokyo is preparing a new home in Pasadena after closing its previous restaurant in May, with a $3 million construction filing giving customers a more precise location for the promised return.

The restaurant’s own announcement identifies May 30, 2026 as its last day at the former location and says its new home is coming to Burke and Fairmont. A state accessibility filing places the proposed building at 3930 Burke Road.

A relocation with a new building

The construction registration describes a ground-up Japanese restaurant with a sushi bar, totaling 5,625 square feet. It names Irene Chen as owner and Schuster-Inc as the designer.

That combination of the operator’s announcement and the filing supports a relocation story rather than a first-time arrival by an unfamiliar restaurant. Little Tokyo’s website still carries its former 6737 Fairmont Parkway address in the footer, but the closure notice and new-location message provide the clearer account of its plans.

The announced destination would keep the business in Pasadena while moving it to a newly built restaurant. The filed size describes the proposed building; no verified comparison with the old dining room or seating capacity is available.

Sushi remains part of the plan

Little Tokyo’s established menu includes sushi offerings, and the new filing expressly includes a sushi bar. That gives returning customers a concrete connection between the former restaurant and the new project without assuming that every dish or service format will carry over.

The restaurant has not announced a new-site menu or detailed interior layout in the sources reviewed. Available food photography comes from the restaurant itself, rather than a rendering of the proposed Burke Road building.

Estimated construction runs into June

The filing estimates construction from November 25, 2026 through June 25, 2027. The $3 million cost and schedule are estimates, not a reopening announcement. A completed accessibility review also does not substitute for local construction approval.

For former patrons, the most important confirmed update is that Little Tokyo has named its next intersection and a corresponding ground-up restaurant project is registered. The business has not yet supplied a verified reopening date or explained the reason for the move.
