Pasadena Construction from Bayport to Burke Road

At Bayport Container Terminal in the Pasadena Industrial Complex, a wharf and a cargo yard do different jobs. Ships unload at the wharf, while containers wait in the yard for the next leg of their trip. Port Houston’s 2023–2027 investment plan for Bayport pairs additional wharf space with orders for ship-to-shore cranes, so crews can work the vessels that call there.

Drivers entering Pasadena Boulevard from State Highway 225 see only part of what goes into rebuilding the road. The first phase extends south to Harris Avenue. Its plans put drainage, water and sewer improvements beneath the pavement and call for pedestrian ramps and new signals where the boulevard meets its cross streets.

Along Vince Bayou, the city has studied a roughly three-mile walking and cycling route between Memorial Park and Strawberry Park. The bayou gives the trail a route through established neighborhoods, but the crossings determine how people can use it. The city’s plan identifies bridges as part of the connection between the two parks.

At Burke Road and Fairmont Parkway, a familiar restaurant gives Pasadena residents a different reason to follow construction. Little Tokyo announced the move after closing its former Fairmont Parkway location. The filing for 3930 Burke Road describes a new 5,625-square-foot restaurant with a sushi bar, giving longtime customers a place to watch while they wait for a reopening date.
