The planned CoCo ICHIBANYA Carrollton restaurant would bring customizable Japanese curry to 2323 Old Denton Road, Suite 140. The international chain’s proposed 2,840-square-foot location carries a $550,000 construction estimate, adding another North Texas project after its first Texas opening in Frisco.
The appeal starts with a plate of rice and savory curry sauce. From there, diners can choose toppings, adjust the rice portion and select a spice level—turning a familiar comfort-food dish into something personal.
CoCo ICHIBANYA Carrollton Plans Take Shape
An October 19 Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation registration identifies the location as Carrollton Commerce Center. It describes tenant improvements within an existing suite, rather than a new ground-up restaurant building.
The filing lists Sunrise Property Management as owner and Schwarz-Hanson Architects as the design firm. Its scope names Clark Family Restaurants 111, LLC, while the tenant field identifies Michael Clark.
The estimated work period runs from November 1, 2026, through April 1, 2027. The $550,000 figure is a registered construction estimate, not a confirmed total investment or opening budget.
For diners, the most useful location detail is the registered Suite 140 address on Old Denton Road. The available documents do not establish a former tenant or a final storefront design.
From a Japanese Café to an International Curry Chain
CoCo ICHIBANYA’s roots reach back to founders Tokuji and Naomi Munetsugu and their café business in Japan. The brand’s account of its origins describes how the couple developed a curry sauce that became the foundation of a dedicated curry restaurant.
The official corporate timeline dates the first restaurant to January 1978 in Nishi-Biwajima, on the outskirts of Nagoya. Expansion eventually carried the concept throughout Japan and overseas, including an Oahu restaurant in 1994.
The company opened its first mainland U.S. restaurant in Torrance, California, in 2011. Its corporate history also records Guinness World Records recognition in January 2013 as the world’s largest curry restaurant chain. That is a historical distinction, rather than a newly verified ranking.

A Curry Menu Built Around Customization
Japanese curry rice pairs rice with a thick, savory sauce. At CoCo ICHIBANYA, customization is central to the experience: diners can change the rice portion, heat level and toppings instead of choosing only from fixed combinations.
The chain’s established U.S. menu includes chicken and pork cutlets, vegetables and seafood options such as shrimp, squid and clams. Mushroom, spinach and cheese toppings give customers additional ways to build a plate.

A breaded cutlet adds a crisp layer against the curry sauce and rice. Other combinations move in a different direction, pairing the curry with vegetables or seafood. The choice of topping and heat level makes repeat visits part of the concept’s appeal.
In its Japanese brand materials, the company says its customization options allow more than 1.2 billion combinations. That is the company’s own description of its broader offering, not a count of dishes confirmed for Carrollton.
The CoCo ICHIBANYA Carrollton menu has not been announced. These examples explain the established brand; local selections, prices and specials remain unconfirmed.
Growing Beyond Its First Texas Restaurant
The company’s U.S. timeline identifies Frisco as its first Texas location, opening in September 2023. Its directory lists that restaurant at 9351 Warren Parkway, Suite 125.
The same official location directory labels Haltom City as “Opening Soon,” with an address of 3970 NE Loop 820, Suite 300. Carrollton therefore represents another planned North Texas location, not a confirmed third operating Texas restaurant.
TCM’s coverage of Hey Yogurt and the H Mart-anchored Haltom City plaza also identifies CoCo ICHIBANYA among separately registered restaurant projects there. The connection offers regional expansion context without establishing when either curry house will open.
For Carrollton, the documented restaurant entity is Clark Family Restaurants 111, LLC. The reviewed records do not establish shared ownership or management with the Frisco restaurant.
What Comes Next for CoCo ICHIBANYA Carrollton?
The Carrollton project remains listed as “Project Registered.” Its November 2026–April 2027 schedule describes anticipated construction, and the registration does not confirm that work has begun.
No official Carrollton grand-opening date appears in the reviewed sources. April 1, 2027, is the estimated construction completion date, not a promise that customers can dine there that day.
If completed, the restaurant would give Carrollton diners another place to explore a Japanese specialty built around individual tastes. The next milestone for customers will be a company announcement confirming when the curry house is ready to welcome them.
