Maxwell’s growing neighborhoods could soon have another everyday shopping stop on Camino Real. AutoZone Maxwell is planned at 6920 Camino Real, bringing a new auto parts store to a community where homebuilding is expanding the customer base for local businesses.
For drivers, the appeal is practical: a place to pick up a replacement battery, windshield wipers or supplies for a weekend repair. The planned 7,200-square-foot store would add that kind of convenience along one of Maxwell’s main roads.
AutoZone Maxwell adds an everyday retail stop
The ground-up project carries an estimated construction cost of $884,877. Plans call for work to begin April 9, 2027, with completion scheduled for September 23, 2027, according to the state accessibility registration. A store opening date has not been announced.
AutoZone’s shelves serve both routine maintenance and the unexpected problem that interrupts a workday. Beyond parts and accessories, the company advertises store services including battery testing and charging, along with its Fix Finder warning-light reports. The Maxwell location’s specific service offerings will become clearer as it approaches opening.

Maxwell growth brings more homes nearby
The new retail proposal comes as builders market neighborhoods to buyers looking for a home within reach of several Central Texas job centers. At Sunset Oaks in Maxwell, KB Home is selling houses from a sales office near Highway 21 and FM 1966.
The builder highlights access to Interstate 35 and Highway 130, as well as employers in Austin, Kyle, Lockhart and San Marcos. Neighborhood amenities include a park, playground and basketball court. That mix of housing and commuter access helps explain the area’s appeal to households whose daily routines stretch across the region.
The broader development pipeline is substantial. Caldwell County’s 2024 Transportation Plan reported approximately 20,000 single-family homes platted or proposed along the county’s western edge. That figure covers a wider area than Maxwell and represents a development pipeline, rather than completed homes.
As those neighborhoods take shape, everyday shopping becomes part of the growth story. An auto parts store serves the vehicles residents depend on for commuting, school trips and errands—the less flashy, but useful, side of a growing community.
AutoZone Maxwell construction planned for 2027
The registration identifies the project as AutoZone #11379, with RFJJ2 Investments LLC listed as owner and AutoZone Development LLC handling design. The privately funded project is registered under TABS2027001156.
It also joins another planned AutoZone investment in Caldwell County. TCM previously reported on the company’s new Luling store on East Pierce Street, giving the county two separate store projects to watch.
For Maxwell, the next milestone is the planned spring 2027 construction start. If the schedule holds, the new building would be completed that fall, adding another retail destination along Camino Real as nearby neighborhoods continue to grow.
