LongHorn Steakhouse plans a $3,505,000 restaurant at 19889 I-35 in Kyle, adding another full-service dining option to Kyle Park. A state construction filing outlines a 5,780-square-foot building, with work scheduled to begin December 14, 2026, and finish June 21, 2027. An opening date has not been announced.
The project includes the restaurant, a dumpster enclosure, parking, landscaping and utilities. ACS Architectural Construction Services is listed as the design firm, while RARE Hospitality International appears as the tenant.
Where LongHorn Steakhouse fits at Kyle Park
NewQuest’s Kyle Park brochure identifies a proposed location for the steakhouse within the development. The brochure lists 5,710 square feet, slightly below the newer filing’s 5,780-square-foot figure. The state filing provides the construction size used in this report.
Kyle Park spans 101 acres at I-35 and Bebee Road. The City of Kyle’s February 2026 announcement identifies NewQuest Properties as the developer and describes a mix of retail, restaurants, services and multifamily housing.
The city’s announced tenant lineup includes Dick’s Sporting Goods, T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods, Barnes & Noble and Burlington. For residents, that puts the planned restaurant within a larger destination for shopping trips and dinner afterward.
LongHorn Steakhouse got its start in a snowstorm’s path
Despite its Western name and steakhouse identity, the restaurant began in Atlanta, Georgia. The first location opened on August 10, 1981, according to the company’s history.
The following year brought an unexpected turning point. A snowstorm shut down interstate travel in Atlanta, and guests streamed into the restaurant. LongHorn credits that night with helping establish its reputation.
It is an unusual origin story for a restaurant now associated with hot grills and steak dinners: a wintry traffic shutdown helped introduce customers to the young business. More than four decades later, Kyle is part of its next chapter.
Steaks, familiar favorites and dinner plans
The restaurant’s signature dishes include the Outlaw Ribeye and Flo’s Filet. Those give steak fans familiar starting points, while Parmesan Crusted Chicken and LongHorn Salmon offer options for diners ordering something different.
Wild West Shrimp also appears among the featured selections. Whether the table leans toward steak or chicken, the appeal is a sit-down meal with choices beyond a single specialty. Kyle-specific prices, hours and opening promotions have not been announced.
Another dining addition alongside Olive Garden
The nearby planned Olive Garden at Kyle Park has its own construction filing at 19865 I-35. Its schedule targets completion in December 2027, later than the steakhouse’s June 2027 construction target.
The two filings give residents a clearer picture of the restaurants planned along this stretch of the development. For LongHorn Steakhouse, the next milestone in the filed schedule is the December 2026 construction start.
