A church campus first planned for Argyle nearly six years ago is finally moving closer to construction.
Valley Creek Church is preparing to build a new $15 million campus at 875 FM 407 W, just east of Interstate 35W near Gateway Boulevard.
The latest construction plans call for a 37,347-square-foot place of worship with additional accessory spaces, with construction currently scheduled to begin in November 2026.
But Valley Creek’s plans for Argyle aren’t new.
In fact, the project has been trying to get off the ground since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
A project years in the making
Valley Creek originally brought plans for its Argyle campus through the town’s development process in 2020.
Then the pandemic arrived.
The project was put on pause, and after years without construction, the previous approvals expired. That sent Valley Creek back through Argyle’s development process before work could move forward.
The project finally gained new momentum earlier this year.
On February 4, 2026, the Argyle Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of a new site plan for the campus. Town documents at the time showed a roughly 35,724-square-foot church capable of seating approximately 750 people.
Less than two weeks later, the project cleared another major hurdle when the Argyle Town Council unanimously approved the plans.
Now, a new state construction filing gives us an even clearer picture of what’s coming.
$15 million construction project planned
According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Valley Creek Church registered the Argyle project on August 17.
The newest plans list 37,347 square feet of construction with an estimated cost of $15 million.
Construction is currently scheduled to begin November 2, 2026, with completion targeted for May 31, 2027. The project is privately funded and listed as new construction.
That November timeline also matches Valley Creek’s own project updates, which say construction on the Argyle campus is expected to begin in late 2026.
The May 2027 date represents the current construction schedule, however. Valley Creek has not announced an official opening date for the Argyle campus.
The campus will serve more than Argyle
Valley Creek isn’t looking at the project as an Argyle-only church.
The organization says the new campus is intended to serve the broader Argyle, Justin and Northlake area.
The church’s property sits at the corner of FM 407 and Gateway Drive, just east of I-35W. Valley Creek describes the overall property as approximately 33 acres, giving the organization considerably more room than what’s required for the initial church development.
Plans reviewed by Argyle earlier this year covered a smaller 7.45-acre development area for the church itself.
Valley Creek Executive Pastor of Operations Brad Lanham told town officials the campus is expected to host multiple Sunday morning services along with a students-only gathering on Wednesday evenings. Plans also envision a deck overlooking the town.
And the remaining property could eventually bring another project.
Lanham said Valley Creek expects additional acreage associated with the site will likely be used for a future Valley Creek College campus.
Traffic and landscaping were part of the discussion
A project of this size along FM 407 also raised questions about traffic.
During the latest approval process, Valley Creek agreed to fund a deceleration lane approaching Gateway Boulevard for vehicles entering the main campus entrance. Argyle officials also discussed future traffic signals in the surrounding corridor as development continues.
Landscaping received attention as well.
The original site plan presented earlier this year included 378 parking spaces. After commissioners pushed for additional landscaping along FM 407, Valley Creek agreed to eliminate roughly 28 spaces, reducing the total to about 350 spaces while creating additional room for trees, landscaping and a berm along the roadway.
That still leaves the campus with more parking than required under town standards.
Part of a much larger Valley Creek investment
The Argyle campus is also only one piece of Valley Creek’s larger expansion plans.
The church currently operates physical campuses in Flower Mound, Denton, Lewisville and Gainesville, in addition to its online campus.
Its Argyle project is included in a broader initiative called Missional Move: Create the Future, which also includes projects such as a Prayer Center, Training Center and future University Campus near the University of North Texas.
Valley Creek says the overall initiative represents a $50 million investment, with the organization planning to complete the projects without taking on debt.
After years of waiting, however, Argyle’s piece of that expansion is finally moving forward.
The campus has survived a pandemic-era pause, expired approvals and another trip through the town’s development process.
Now, with local approvals secured and a $15 million construction project officially registered, Valley Creek’s long-planned Argyle campus is closer than ever to becoming a reality.
