Burlington plans a $3.3 million store at Burleson Crossing East in Bastrop, adding a 22,520-square-foot retail building to the shopping center’s next phase along State Highway 71.

The project at 655 W. SH 71 includes a new building shell and interior construction. Its registration gives Burlington a defined construction scope beyond the retailer’s earlier appearance on the development’s leasing plan.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, TABS2027004069, identifies BRP East Phase II LLC as the owner and Cuaso Design Studio as the design firm. The scope calls for concrete masonry construction of the shell as well as the store interior, rather than a refresh of an operating shop.

A leasing plan previously included in TCM’s coverage of the planned Dick’s Sporting Goods store places Burlington immediately north of Dick’s and west of Wagon Wheel. Cavender’s and Barnes & Noble are also labeled across the parking area. Those names describe the plan, not confirmed opening schedules.

For Bastrop shoppers, the proposal would add another shopping destination within a district already being developed around multiple retail anchors. Burlington’s separate filing supplies the store’s size, construction budget and estimated work schedule, while the site plan shows how it fits among its planned neighbors.

City records detail the work behind the storefronts

Bastrop’s municipal records show the public infrastructure supporting Phase II. On September 1, 2026, the City Council adopted Resolution R-2026-126, approving the first amendment to the Burleson Crossing East subdivision construction agreement with BRP East, L.P.

The resolution identifies approved public-improvement and final-drainage plans for commercial development within the planned development district. The amendment makes the developer responsible for $18,499 in inspection fees under the agreement.

An attached engineering estimate lists water and wastewater improvements, grading and paving, and erosion-control work. It also identifies sidewalks, curb ramps and driveway improvements. These are the less-visible parts of the shopping-center buildout that connect new commercial buildings to utilities and provide access around the development.

The September action amended the subdivision infrastructure agreement. It was not a Burlington-specific building approval or an announcement that the store is ready to open.

Construction schedule and remaining details

The Burlington filing estimates construction from November 9, 2026, through September 1, 2027. Both the $3.3 million cost and those dates are construction estimates; the completion target is not a grand-opening date.

A Burlington corporate opening announcement, hiring count and detailed merchandise layout for Bastrop have not been verified. The available records establish a planned new retail building and its place in Burleson Crossing East’s next phase.
